Notification Reader

If the app provides a statusbar notification showing the value, GDH may can read the value from the notification.

Configuration:

  • open GlucoDataHandler
  • open 3 dot menu and select "Sources"
  • open "Notification Reader (Beta)"
  • open "Read glucose value"
  • select the "Application" showing the glucose value in the statusbar notification
  • go back and enable notification reader
  • grant permission to GlucoDataHandler to read notifications
  • optional: if you have a notification showing IOB and/or COB value, you can also select this application in "Read IOB/COB value"

Troubleshooting

Notification reader stops working

If notification updates are no longer delivered to GDH, first check whether GDH still has permission to access notifications.

On Android, go to:

Settings → Apps → ⋮ → Special app access → Notification access

Make sure that GlucoDataHandler (GDH) is enabled.

If the permission is already enabled and the notification reader still does not work, the only known solution is to reinstall GDH, as I have no control over this system behavior.
