Oliver Scheer

Principal Software Engineer · Software Architect · Engineering & Transformation Leadership

I work at the intersection of software engineering, architecture, AI, technical leadership and transformation. My focus is on building and modernizing complex systems, aligning technology with business goals, and enabling teams to deliver sustainably.

What I focus on

• Software and cloud architecture
• Distributed systems and modernization
• AI engineering and generative AI
• Engineering leadership and team leadership
• Transformation management
• Stakeholder management
• Developer experience and engineering excellence

Fractional & advisory work

Alongside longer-term roles, I am available for selected fractional engagements where experienced technical and organizational leadership is needed without a full-time commitment.

• Fractional technical and project leadership
• Architecture and technology consulting
• Engineering and transformation advisory
• Workshops, training and team enablement
• Stakeholder alignment and technical decision facilitation

This can range from focused workshops and architecture reviews to supporting teams and projects over a longer period as a fractional lead or advisor.

SaaS & product experience

I also build and operate my own SaaS solutions and digital products. This gives me a product and operator perspective beyond consulting and architecture: from product decisions and software delivery to cloud operations, automation, cost and continuous improvement.

One of these products is Traumliga, a platform for interactive games and business applications. I use these products to explore and apply modern software architecture, AI, cloud-native engineering and product development in real operating environments.

Background

• 25+ years in professional software engineering
• 18 years at Microsoft across software engineering, developer experience and technology evangelism
• Principal engineering and architecture roles in enterprise environments
• Extensive experience with workshops, technical consulting and international speaking
• Hands-on engineering background with deep experience in .NET, Azure and modern cloud platforms

Current technical areas

• Architecture: distributed systems, APIs, DDD, evolutionary architecture, modernization
• AI: generative AI, LLM applications, RAG, vector search, AI-assisted products
• Engineering: CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, containers, observability, architecture governance
