Hand off an ended session from the desktop app - #2205
An ended server session's read-only notice becomes a hand-off composer: it shows where the new session will start and whether the old session's work is all there, reuses the launcher's agent, model, effort and permission chips (extracted into LaunchChipsView), and starts a hand-off only when both the server (GetLaunchFeatures) and the local daemon list handoff/1. A refused launch, immediate or delayed, gives the typed text, attachments and chip choices back in the source session with the reason. The new session shows a card of what its takeover carried over. Stacked on #2204, which this branch contains.
Where to look
HandoffComposerViewModel and HandoffDrafts: a launch failure never reads as success, and a draft is taken back exactly once whether its composer is live, gone, or reopened. Not covered yet: a hosted agent whose local row ends Failed hides its ended server row, so it can't be handed off from there.
Verification
View-model tests drive eligibility and every disabled reason, each strip-label shape, the fork and same-repository target mapping, an immediate refusal, a delayed failure before and after StartAsync returns, a composer disposed mid-launch, and a source the directory no longer lists. Smoke tests type into the box and click Start, drop a file onto the card, check Enter never launches (fails with an Enter handler added), and open the agent chip's flyout. App unit suite green; dotnet build Capacitor.slnx clean; AOT publish shows no IL warnings. Not run against a live server: the server half (kurrent-io/kcap-server#2867) is not deployed yet.
Only slice 1's target validation is invalid_target; credentials in the
detail are stripped and a 50 s deadline answers before the client's 60 s.

An interrupted takeover returns what it carried rather than throwing, so the
hand-off outcome can name each item it never confirmed.

A launch shape the probe never resolved refuses its hand-off block rather than
ignoring it, and the checkout's origin is re-checked so the app's pick carries no authority.

With an empty box the launch prompt is all hand-off boilerplate, so a title cut
from it would read the same for every hand-off.

A failed renewal cancels the run at once: past that point the server may have
handed the source to another successor.

A branch name git accepts can still carry shell syntax, and the prompt tells
the agent to push the way the data block says.

A server that relays a hand-off has the begin method, so only the hub's own
missing-method reply means unsupported; any other failure is a dropped hub.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…2132)
Shutdown waits up to 5 s for in-flight takeovers before the hub goes, so a
finished run is stored and every run ends its lease.

Begin records the continuation on the server, so the local check has to come
first or the source reads as continued by a successor that carried nothing.

The hub's GetLaunchFeatures and the handoff-context read are the app's gate for offering a hand-off.

The test only asserts card.Bounds.Height < 260 and transcript.Bounds.Height > 150. These are Avalonia layout measurements. They are not a real view interaction such as focus, keyboard or pointer routing, flyouts, or accessibility peers.
Delete the test, or cover the behavior through an interaction. Keep the data-projection checks in HandoffOutcomeViewModelTests.

A 401 on the context read, an upload or a launch now signs the lane out, so every
composer recovers through the app's sign-in rather than repeating the refused call.

The nitpick on HandoffOutcomeCardSmokeTests is fixed in d13c5e9: the test only asserted layout bounds, so I deleted it. The card's data projection stays covered in HandoffOutcomeViewModelTests.

Revalidate when the captured harness is withdrawn
When files are uploading and the daemon's supported vendors change from, for example, Claude and Codex to only Codex, HandoffChoicesViewModel changes the current selection but this subscription projects both lists to HasAvailableHarness == true, so DistinctUntilChanged suppresses Recheck. Consequently _recheckAfterLaunch remains false and the captured Claude draft is submitted after the upload even though the daemon no longer hosts Claude. Fresh evidence beyond the earlier review comment is that the current fix observes only whether any harness remains, rather than whether the captured vendor remains available; observe the vendor set or explicitly validate draft.Vendor after uploading.

Retry transient origin fetch failures
When the daemon probe returns FetchError because the Git origin is temporarily unreachable, evaluation produces an OriginUnreachable(...) reason, but this retry gate excludes that result. If the server and daemon remain connected, no other subscription necessarily triggers another evaluation, so the composer remains disabled after the network or origin recovers until the workspace is recreated. Treat origin fetch failures as transient here or expose an explicit retry action.

Preserve edits added before navigating away from a pending launch
When a launch or attachment upload is in flight, the composer remains editable, so a user can add text or files after draft was captured and then navigate away. Disposal sees IsLaunching and skips KeepUnsent; after that, a successful launch persists none of the discarded composer's current contents, while the disposed failure paths return only the earlier captured draft. The post-click edits are therefore silently lost, so preserve the unsent delta/current snapshot when disposing during a launch while keeping the captured launch draft under its existing settlement path.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Cancel outcome polling when hand-off capability is lost
After a poll has observed running or interrupted, seen remains true and null reads no longer expire at NullWindow. Because incapable or disconnected status values are filtered out here rather than switched to an empty observable, losing the daemon leaves the previous poll opening a local IPC socket every two seconds indefinitely; only a later capable connection or workspace teardown cancels it. Map both capability edges into Switch so the false edge cancels the active poll and the next true edge starts a fresh discovery window.

Preserve the in-flight edit when restoring an accepted launch failure.

Preserve the in-flight edit when restoring an accepted launch failure.
ClearSent leaves the changed composer text, but the later failure path does not know that the text already represents the submitted prompt. Apply therefore appends the captured prompt through HandoffDraft.JoinText, which duplicates it.
Track the accepted launch's captured text and the edited composer state as per-launch restoration metadata. When that launch fails and the current text still represents the user's in-flight edit, restore that text without appending the captured prompt. Use the existing JoinText behavior for independent failed drafts; changing it globally could merge distinct failed prompts incorrectly. Add a test that edits the text inside the in-flight launch callback, emits LaunchFailure after acceptance, and asserts that the restored text contains the edited prompt once.
