The crates did move. yazi-fm and yazi-cli on crates.io stopped at 26.5.6, and newer releases go out through yazi-build (currently 26.9.1, same as the latest GitHub release). The installation docs say that because of Cargo's limitations, Yazi has to be installed via yazi-build, which builds and installs both yazi and ya:

cargo install --force yazi-build

That compiles from source, so you need make and a C compiler.

cargo binstall yazi-fm will stay stuck on 26.5.6, because binstall resolves the version from the yazi-fm crate. If you want a prebuilt binary without compiling, grab it from the release page: yazi-x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu.zip (or -musl, or the .deb) on https://github.com/sxyazi/yazi/releases/latest, and put yazi and ya on your PATH. Your distro's package works too if it's current. On Arch it's pacman -S yazi.

(The installation page still lists cargo binstall yazi-fm, which is probably what led you here.)
