License Question #1101
|
Hello, thank you for creating this library. I have a question regarding the license.
Under the MIT portion, it states that you can use/copy/modify/merge/publish/distribute the software as part of an app/website/product without restriction. Under the commons clause restriction, it states you can use the software for any commercial purpose provided you don't sell, sublicense, or redistribute the components whether standalone, bundled, or ported. I want to use this library in a commercial static web app where the library/components would be bundled into the app using Vite build. According to the commons clause restriction, I would not be able to use the library because the components would be bundled into my app. Is this interpretation correct? Thank you. |

Hello! That interpretation isn’t correct. The restriction is about redistributing React Bits itself as a reusable product, for example porting or repackaging the components into another UI library, selling templates built primarily from React Bits components, or otherwise distributing the components as components. It does not mean React Bits components cannot be included in your application’s production bundle. Using React Bits inside a commercial website or web app, including building it with Vite and shipping the resulting application, is allowed. In that case, React Bits is being used as part of your end product rather than redistributed as a standalone or competing component offering. |
